Much Respect!

I have much respect for gardeners/farmers. You have to work really hard and the heat doesn’t make the work any easier. We decided that we were going to grow a heritage garden. Making the decision was easy but what comes after is a killer. We chose a spot in the school garden. The only problem is that the spot we chose was occupied by plants. We had to eliminate the plants, which was saddening. We also had to shovel up the grass. These tasks were really difficult because the roots are so strong. We are getting through it together. We do a little each day.
After working on our heritage garden we do tasks that are much easier. We water many plants. This week we harvested spring onions, potatoes, and fennel. After harvesting, we cleaned the vegetables. We are going to use the vegetables for a “cooking class” later.
Working in the garden is a learning experience!
